I really like Nicholas Sparks books so I thought I'd read one for this independent reading assignment.  I watch the movies that his books are based on all the time but I've found that the books are better because it gives a better description.  When I wacthed The Notebook, I didn't find it sad but then I read the book and I did.  I think that shows that Sparks' books are powerful and worth reading, even if you already saw the movie.  I saw the movie of the Last Song a few years ago and I liked it.  So I thought the book would be even better because movies always leave some storylines out.
